dpc & stock offer grant for “sustainable art”; proposals due feb 4th

The Dill Pickle Club proudly teams up with Portland Stock to offer an artist grant for projects dealing with theme of “sustainability” to be held Friday, February 11, in conjunction with the University of Oregon 2011 Visual Culture Symposium.

The conference will bring together arts educators from across the U.S. and Canada to examine “culture as a component of sustainability.” The group will experience and study the innovative ideas Portland offers in the way of self-organized culture, with a focus on neighborhood development. The Dill Pickle Club will be coordinating programming, and will post video and photos from the conference as they are available.

Stock funds artists through hosting a series of dinner parties where the diners pay for a great meal and the right to discuss and vote on which artist’s proposal will win all of the profit from that night’s event. Past awards have ranged between $400 — $700 per granting dinner.

Stock is now soliciting artist proposals, due Friday, February 4th at 5:00pm. Check out the proposal guidelines and apply here.
