Big news! We’re revising our membership levels (again)…making NOW a better time than ever to sign up to join the Club. While most things remain the same, we’ve decided to include a FREE box set of Oregon History Comics ($30 value) for every membership purchased at the Dill Pickler level ($75) and above.
DPC member Robin Anderson has been involved with the comics project for several months. In addition to helping edit the comics as part of our Publications Committee, Robin also volunteered in helping to collate, staple and assemble more than 7,000 comics. We recently caught up with her to ask her a few questions about her involvement as a member, and the comics project.
Q: What about the Dill Pickle Club made you want to be a member?
A: I’m consistently impressed by the variety of programming and publications. DPC fosters learning in all its forms. I like that one month I can attend one of its panels on something like poverty, then a few months later attend a tour on composting and environmental matters, and then geek out reading mini-comics about Oregon’s past. Being a member is one way to support the Dill Pickle Club’s mission and ensure that its thoughtful work continues well into the future.
Q: What are some of your favorite Dill Pickle Club programs?
A: The Oregon History Comics are definitely my favorite thing that the Dill Pickle Club has done. They fuse my love of history and comics while also teaching me about people, places and things that I had never heard about before. They make learning fun! The Dill Pickle Club’s panel on homelessness hosted at Sisters of the Road Cafe was also eye-opening. I appreciate that the Dill Pickle Club isn’t afraid to examine controversial subjects and matters that are in desperate need of change.
Q: What else would you like folks to know about being a member?
A: The Dill Pickle Club has opened my eyes to where Portland has been, where it’s at, and where it is headed. Being a member has ensured that I don’t miss out on the organization’s publications and get discounts on all of its awesome ticketed events. Most importantly, it feels good to back an organization that embraces learning about the place I call home.
Take advantage of this opportunity and sign up to join the Club at the $75 level and higher. Membership has many other great benefits, including discounted tickets, invites to members-only events, DPC publications, voting rights and more. Membership also supports our programs, making them accessible to a greater number of people. Find out more and join today to get this great deal!
