We’re just a few days away from the North Portland Gentrification Tour (this coming Saturday, October 20). We need at least 35 people to sign up to run this tour, and we’re currently at 19. If you’ve been procrastinating, now is the time to sign up!
Whether you’ve just moved to Portland, or have been here your whole life, this is a great opportunity to learn about the history of black community, and some of the exciting projects underway to preserve its cultural heritage and reunite families effected by displacement. As a reminder, we’re only offering this tour twice…don’t miss out! We want people of all ages and walks of life – bring your kids, friends and family…and help spread the word.
This past Saturday, DPC joined Hazina Management at OMSI, to table outside their Race: Are We So Different? exhibit. Teressa showed a sampling of her family photo albums, which will be on display at the tour – as part of a larger project she’s leading to archive family photos and reconnect black families. View a slideshow below. Look for video to be posted by Wednesday.
