Oregon has long been a leader in innovation — from the bottle bill to the world’s greatest athletic shoes. But currently, Oregon’s economy runs on dirty energy that pumps pollution into our air and water, threatening the place where we love to live.
It’s time to account for the price of pollution from dirty fossil fuels. Pollution costs us — in medical bills and sick days from lung diseases like asthma, fighting record-breaking wildfires, severe drought, and more. Yet major polluters do not take responsibility for their pollution. Let’s change that.
It’s time for Oregon to accelerate the transition to a clean energy economy, create good-paying jobs and drive innovation. This task depends on building a climate movement that continues to grow and represent the diverse perspectives of all Oregonians.
On Monday, January 25th, Know Your City and Renew Oregon are hosting a community dialogue with speakers who organize in very different communities for a clean Oregon future. Topics include carbon pricing, equity and environmental justice, grassroots coalition building, and creating green jobs for working Oregonians.
Join us at (location TBA). Speakers include:
State Representative Lew Frederick
Mayor of Milwaukie
Secretary-Treasurer of AFL-CIO
Chief Executive Officer of Celilo Group Media
Field Organizer for the Oregon Sierra Club
Moderator: Maggie Tallmadge, Environmental Justice Manager for the Coalition of Communities of Color
