Know Your City and Asian Pacific American Network of Oregon (APANO) proudly partner to offer the third annual walking tour of the Jade District, to coincide with the second annual Jade International Night Market on Saturday, August 27th. This was one of our favorite tours last year and we’re thrilled to offer it again – in anticipation of the Jade International Night Markets – which last year saw 20,000 visitors.
The Jade District is a neighborhood in SE Portland with nearly half of the district’s residents being people of color. The tour celebrates this cultural diversity, while also acknowledging some of the issues of equity the neighborhood faces. The tour ends at 5pm, where you will be invited to join the Jade District community as we kick off the Second International Jade Night Market Event! Come and enjoy food and retail vendors, live entertainment, children’s activities, a beer garden and much more!
Tour stops include:
– Harrison Park Community Garden and a discussion on the Douglas Square Apartments
– The Pedestrian Bridge on 87th and Division to talk about transportation infrastructure and safety
– The Jade District/APANO office on Southeast 82nd Ave
– Finish at JAMS/ Night Market to discuss affordable housing, displacement, and the future development and transit project
